France has said it will go ahead with the A400M air transport program even if it has only 200 orders. Germany has yet to decide to join the program, and Italy has hinted it might cut its order for 44 of them by as many as a dozen. Current plans are for the first A400M to fly in 2005, with planes entering service the next year.--Stephen V Cole
