A Thai Islamic website is offering rewards for killing senior government officials in the three, largely Moslem, southern provinces. For killing a provincial governor, $2,250 is offered. Deputy governors are worth $890. The rewards are available for two months, although the authenticity of the group (the Pattani United Liberation) offering the rewards has not been verified. The government is planning to offer rewards for known Islamic separatists.
