We'd Rather Fight Than Talk

September 15, 2006: The army is apparently preparing another major push against the LTTE in the north. There's been more artillery firing in the past two days, and army units have been on the move. The army wants to push LTTE fighters away from the port city of Trincomalee, which is the major army base in an area that is otherwise controlled by the LTTE.

September 14, 2006: The LTTE wants peace talks, the government wants to take its time working out the conditions for such talks.

September 14, 2006: Several guerilla type clashes with the LTTE left ten dead.

September 13, 2006: Two hand grenades were tossed into crowds in a northern town, leaving 18 wounded. The LTTE was believed responsible. One of the attacks was apparently part of an LTTE extortion attempt against a Moslem merchant.
