: Since the ceasefire began in February, 2002, LTTE assassins have killed over 250 "enemies" (Tamils who disagreed with the LTTE, and government officials and officers who appeared to be doing harm to the LTTE cause.) The LTTE continues to prepare for a resumption of the war, and will not seriously negotiate unless this will involve the possibility of a separate Tamil state (which the majority Sinhalese will not tolerate.) LTTE has so far resisted all local and international political pressure to come around.
