Six 13-14 year old girls fled a rebel training camp and told government authorities that the rebels had seized 80 teenagers and were training them to be soldiers. The previous day, LTTE had announced that it no longer conscripted teenagers for their armed forces. The rebels recruit kids that young because they cannot get enough older Tamils to volunteer. Young teenagers are easier to train and turn into fighters.
