New --and confirmed-- fighting has occurred between the Burundian government and the FDD. This is a breakdown in the ceasefire signed earlier this month. A Burundian government spokesman said four FDD fighters died in a firefight October 17. The clash occurred in the Mwungwa area (east of Bujumbura).
