More action in Burundi. On December 24, rebels killed three Burundian government workers, one of them a provincial government official. The three were killed when their car was ambushed (machine-gunned, the report said) near the town of Rumonge. On December 25 Hutu rebels killed around 15 people when they attacked Butare (near the Tanzanian border). On December 29, Hutu rebels killed another 29 people in a highway ambush near Bujumbura. One of the vehicles attacked was a bus.
