The police have warned fundamentalist Moslem gangs that attacks on bars and brothels will not be tolerated. Initially, the police tried to reason with the fundamentalists, but after the violence, and some deaths, followed, the police have announced a hard line. Some of the gangs have been stealing the liquor or demanding protection money from bar and brothel owners.
