  In several incidents, 23 rebels and soldiers were killed. In one case, seven ELN rebels were surprised and killed by troops as the rebels prepared to set bombs in a large oil field. The army is increasing its efforts to stop the ELN rebels from constantly bombing oil installations and interrupting oil exports.
