KFOR said that a French soldier in the peacekeeping force was found dead near the town of Leposavic. The report said the man committed suicide while on a military operation. The KFOR report said the man shot himself.
UNMIK announced a reward of 50,000 euros for information leading to the arrest of those would killed an UNMIK policeman on August 3. The murdered policeman was Major Satish Menon of India.
Moldova announced that Russian may be used as well as Moldovan (Romanian) as a communicating language: in the Moldovan Army. A subsequent report said the dual language situation might not be permanent, but would be used during a transition period.
