The Bosnian Serb chair of Bosnia's tripartite presidency, Mirko Sarovic, quit after allegations he was involved in Bosnian arms sale to Iraq. He may also be involved in a spy scandal involving spying on NATOs SFOR troops in Bosnia. Sarovic also served as president of the Republika Srpska.

Turkey in a move promoting new thinking about Cyprus said it was now supporting Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash new proposals on resolving the Cyprus issue. Denktash has offers to give the village of Varosha (in the Turk zone) to Greek Cypriots. He also wants a new bilateral trade agreement between the Turkish and Greek halves of the island. He proposed free movement across the Green Line. Is it new thinking? Its certainly new flexibility, especially as the Greek half moves toward joining the EU.
