The Romanian government's Office for Relations with Moldova said that the basic treaty which covers Romanian-Moldovan relations must be revised. Its interesting to see the specific changes Romania wants. Romania wants the treatys text to say both Romania and Moldova are "Romanian." Romania also wants the text to condemn the Ribbentrop-Molotov Pact (which gave Bessarabia, or Moldova, to the USSR). This follows news from Moldova (June 15) that several Moldovan academics are protesting a Moldovan government proposal to change upper school and university courses currently titled The History of Romanians to The History of Moldova.
