Pretty Women On Parade

September 25, 2009: China has hired professional female models to march in a parade. This was seen as very important for the survival of the communist government. The October 2nd parade in China, to celebrate 60 years of communist rule, wants to make China, and its government, look good. To that end, the parade organizers are having contingents, from all the military organizations in China, march past the high def TV cameras. Being a communist police state, there are lots of uniformed groups. Many have female components. The parade organizers particularly wanted to insure that the women in uniform looked good. Not just military good, but good. When they discovered that the female contingent from the People's Militia did not measure up, they proceeded to hire models, from as far away as Singapore, to pretty-up the women's contingent of the People's Militia. To avoid criticism for doing something similar for the Summer Olympics ceremonies, the parade organizers let the media know that there would be ringers marching with the People's Militia.

It happens with the men as well. There are special parade units where the men all must meet certain height, facial structure and skin tone requirements.  The master race needs to put on its best face ya know.

Definitely a hint of that, but I think this falls more into the 'flashy' category.

Hey, I'm no fan of the Chinese and would be one of the last people to defend them on just about anything, but in this case they're not doing anything that anyone else isn't doing.  Ok, ok, maybe we aren't hiring models to march as soldiers in parades, but how many of the troops we've all served with would make it into a military recruitment commercial?  The Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps always use their best looking people to represent their services, for the same reason any other advertiser hires good looking actors and models to attract people to their company or product.  Heck, even the soldiers of the "Old Guard" that guard the Tomb of the Unknown in Washington D.C. are handpicked for their stature (at least six feet tall) and appearance.  I doubt you'll see any fat slobs or toothless rubes guarding Buckingham Palace either.

This is asinine. Chinese women by nature are good looking. To hire "ringers"  has got to be insulting and demeaning to the women of China who wear a uniform. I find it hard to believe they need to stoop so low.

China has always had large "morale and entertainment" teams in its military.  Not only models, but large groups of singers, dancers, and units that do Vegas-style production numbers are common.  If you ever watch the Chinese New Year variety show, you'll see several numbers by military troupes (spelling is correct) - often with a couple hundred people in each act.

According to my Chinese wife, these military performers do lots of USO-style roadshows, so they serve an important morale function.

Generally any woman who is lacking gross physical deformities, is of child bearing age, in excellent physical condition (especially neither anorexic or overweight), would be considered attractive and desirable, if not outright beautiful.  It's part of human genetics to find a good mate and why viewer ratings for women's sports are so much higher than men's.  Military personnel with an emphasis on physical fitness tend to fall in this category.

Could it be that too many of the women in the Chinese military organizations are desk bound slobs?

Don't complain to much, some of us make our best work behind a desk. Not to meantion that most if not all posters on these boards are armchair generals also. :-)

Anyway, I feel cheated, show units indeed. Next somebody is going to post that these IDF women are professional models: link

Incidentally, if you happen to see a bunch of pictures of Russian women in uniform on the net, IT IS actual models, from when some designer released new uniforms (demos you might say). If you do not belive me based on the looks alone, think abit about how young the men in General outfits are...
