Armor: U.S. Marines Buy More Armored Trucks

Archives

October 7, 2005: The U.S. Marine Corps is buying 832 new trucks (Medium Tactical Vehicle, with a five ton capacity) and 130 tractors. What’s interesting is that the marines are also paying $156,000 each to buy armor kits for each of these new vehicles. The armor kits will be installed before the trucks and tractors are delivered. The kits can later be removed, which will probably happen in order to improve the fuel efficiency of the trucks in less dangerous environments.
