Australia is upgrading 350 of its M113A1 APCs to M113AS4 standards, which they hope will then see another 30 years of service. Two demonstration models have been produced. The $500 million M113AS4 upgrade by Tenix will add two feet in length to 171 of the vehicles, along with new armor, machinegun turrets and armored external fuel tanks.
