Archives

An Ugandan Army spokesman reported on 22 April that over 1,300 Uganda National Rescue Front rebels (the remnants of Idi Amin's army) surrendered in southern Sudan and returned to their East African country. The rebels originally fled Uganda in 1979, when Amin was ousted. Their leader was Colonel Juma Oris (Amin's former information minister), but he is believed to have remained in Sudan. - Adam Geibel
