UN special envoy Jacques Klein claimed that Liberia is growing more secure and stable each day, while its people appear to be committed to putting their long civil war behind them.

A Ukrainian An-124 jumbo transport plane carrying four Mi-8 helicopters and 21 personnel from the 56th Detached Helicopter Squadron arrived outside the Liberian capital of Monrovia. Two days earlier, another 21 personnel arrived with two Mi-24 helicopters.

The day before, United Nations police officers began a two-week intensive course to retrain 400 Liberian policemen. However, only about 100 of the authorized 1,115 UN police officers have reached Liberia so far. - Adam Geibel
