Leftist rebels are under increasing military and police pressure as the government tries to retake control of areas long left to the rebels, or anyone with guns. The leftists are most fearful that the government will negotiate a deal with the rightist AUC to make those fighters part of the armed forces, and the war on leftist rebels.
