India has shut down operations of Insat-2B, one of its older communications satellites. Insat-2B had been in orbit for seven years, and its fuel is nearly exhausted. The satellite recently suffered a permanent failure of its Earth-pointing system, making it effectively useless.--Stephen V Cole
