United Airlines and Mesa Airlines plan to outfit their planes with taser stun guns. These will be in locked boxes adjacent to the pilots, who could get to them in seconds if needed. With a range of 15 feet and a jolt of 50,000 volts, they could disable anyone who forced his way into the cockpit.
