  In the last five months, 25,864 armed fighters have been disarmed via the  UN peacekeeping mission. This included  3,340 gunmen under the age of 17. Most of those disarming (16,010) were pro-government militia. But 9,361 RUF 
rebels also laid down their weapons. the remainder being from various other factions.
