More countries are sending peacekeeping troops, including China. The plan is to use these troops to guard aid operations, which will get food and medicine throughout the country and reduce the fighting over food and other loot. Disarming the thousands of armed young men will take longer, but it thought to be practical, because of the successful disarmament of militias in neighboring Sierra Leone.
