Although the government has handed over some heavy weapons to UN peacekeepers, there are still scattered firefights between government and rebel troops. It appears that the two rebel groups do not control all of their fighters, nor does the army. It's estimated that  MODEL has 3,000-5,000 armed men, LURD  7,000-10,000, and the government forces 30,000-40,000.
