  The CIA reported that North Korea is probably ready to test a multi-stage ballistic missile that could reach the west coast of the United States with a nuclear warhead. However, not only has such a missile not been tested (and several tests are usually required before a reliable system is developed), but their nuclear weapons have not been tested either. Thus, at the very least, an effective North Korean ballistic missile attack on the US would not be possible for at least a few years.
