India-Pakistan: April 21, 2002
Opinion polls in Pakistan show 58 percent of the voters support General Musharraf continuing as leader of the country. Meanwhile, relations between India and Pakistan worsen because of growing religious hatreds in both nations. Religious extremists in both nations continue to operate and recruit new activists. However, both nations at least have an official policy that opposes religious intolerance. But such bigotry is easy to sell by politicians, and too many politicians cannot resist.
