Pakistan plans to build a pre-production batch of 15 Al-Khalid tanks, allowing operational tests at the company level before full production begins. The Al-Khalid was designed in China, based on earlier Russian designs. It uses a 125mm smoothbore cannon and explosive reactive armor. China exports a very similar vehicle as the MBT-2000.--Stephen V Cole
