Venezuelan troops clashed with Colombian rebels along the border, leaving one Venezuelan soldier dead and another wounded. It is thought that the Venezuelan army and police tolerate leftist rebels, but crack down on rightist rebels and bandits (who have not made deals to operate freely.)
