FARC has officially declared war on American troops working with the Colombian armed forces. US Army Special Forces and other Department of Defense employees and contractors have been increasingly active in training and advising the Colombian army. Since president Uribe came to power, this training has been quick to be put into the field and the rebels are feeling the heat. In the past, FARC  didn't go out of their way to attack Americans, but rarely passed up an opportunity to do so.
