 In the south, angry Indian villagers forced FARC to release a Swiss missionary and one of three Colombian assistants that were taken hostage by FARC earlier. The missionaries were showing the villagers new farming techniques. 

FARC is continuing its campaign of bombing police and police facilities in urban areas, a policy that tends to injure more civilians than police and to further reduce support for the rebels.
