Rebel group  FONALT (Forces of National Organisations for Alternance and Liberty in Chad) announced that they killed 166 troops in two battles in the eastern part of the country. FONALT also claimed to haev taken 28 prisoners and seized vehicles and weapons. The rebels accused the troops of destroying nine villages.
