  It was revealed that a Cameroonian presidential helicopter was shot down over Chad on October 18. The Cameroonian president was not aboard. It is felt that the attack was made by rebels trying to derail a Chad-Cameroon oil pipeline being built for the export of Chad oil. The increased oil revenue could provide more military muscle for use against the rebels.
