Nearly a hundred Kirghiz troops were landed by helicopter some ten kilometers from where Islamic rebels hold four Japanese engineers (and others) prisoner. So far,  troops have not directly threatened the rebels from the ground, fearing that the hostages might be killed. But air raids attacks have been made on some of the several rebel camps.
