Army troops began forcibly expelling 250,000 Congolese diamond miners from northern Angola. Over decades of civil war in Angola, the Congolese had crossed border and established themselves as miners and suppliers of goods to the miners. The diamond area, which are about a hundred kilometers from the border, became quite prosperous. Now that the Angolan civil war is over, the Angolans want it back.
