On April 11, the Angolan government reported Angolan Army Brigadier-general Raul Antonio was killed April 9 when UNITA rebels attacked the farming community of Samba-Caju in Kwanza-Norte province. The Angolan statement described Antonio as a provincial operational commander. It also said he was known as "Recordacao." In a subsequent report, the government said 150 UNITA rebels took part in the attack, and five were captured by Angolan forces.
