In September Angolan government forces captured the UNITA rebel base at Cazumbo, near the Angolan border with Zambia. Zambian Army Chief General Leujulo Musengulo quickly arrived in Angola to discuss "matters of security along our common border". Musengulo promised that Zambia would not allow UNITA to operate from bases in its territory.--Stephen V Cole
