There were 4,398 cyber attacks on US military computer networks in the first half of 1999, compared to 1,334 in all of 1993. The Pentagon is convinced that many of the attacks are coming from technological institutes operated by various governments, including Russia, China, and Iraq. --Stephen V Cole
