Britain's government, led by Prime Minister Blair, is resisting pressure from Parliament to speed up the design and construction of two large-deck carriers, now set to enter service in 2012 and 2015. Parliament feels the ships are needed much sooner for conflicts like Kosovo and Afghanistan.--Stephen V Cole
