Egypt Integrates

May 9, 2010: An American firm (ARA) has been hired to upgrade and expand the Egyptian air defense system. The U.S. will pay $8 million for this, as part of over a billion dollars a year in military aid supplied each year to Egypt (to maintain the three decade old peace deal with Israel). This upgrade effort will produce a computerized command and control, communication, computer, intelligence and battle management system that will integrate jet interceptors and ground based anti-aircraft weapons. Much of the existing ground control (for combat aircraft) and anti-aircraft gun and missile control systems will be upgraded and integrated. Egypt has potential enemies in the form of Israel, Libya and Sudan. Egypt is clearly more powerful than Libya and Sudan, but is merely a threat to Israel.
