Subject: Dassault VP : Rafale's successor will join Eurofighter Consortium-like Euro Consortium.
SlowMan    10/19/2009 4:07:06 PM
New York Times article < http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/20/business/global/20jets.html?_r=1&pagewanted=2 > "Dassault appears to be thinking along the same lines. Eric Trappier, executive vice president at Dassault Aviation, said that Rafale’s “successor will probably be designed through a European cooperation, from 2025.” " So this is the end of all-French fighter aircraft.

Jet fuel is a fairly good SOLVENT.

Kerosene is also good against rust and it has been used for dry cleaning.

Sorry--that's my bad on the "frameless" canopy.  The F-16's canopy doesn't have a frame in front, and so the F-16 is known for having superb all-around visibility.  Then again, the F-18 has a similar reputation, and the canopy bow is forward on it.  The visibility on the Rafale looks restricted to me to the front and rear.  Anybody have a good video shot from a Rafale cockpit?  (Mainly because I like watching French pilots see just how low they can get before they're sucking seawater and beach sand into their intakes!)

I have been away 3 days (on the road) and the thread has changed a bit . Far too much have been said for me to answer everything and everybody :-(

What I have noticed first is that Hamilcar (Herald) is still as biased as before , unfortunatly . MK is keeping his cool and making points , slowly , gently but surely .
I liked a lot Herald 's BS about the IR Mica test as I was also aware of the test . The most funny thing is he can read and perfectly understand the english language but he 's unable to stop himself of lying and making stuff up , even from a very clear link . Pathetic ...
I also liked very much the false bla-bla about the "mismatch" data transfert when using the various available NATO links onboard the Rafale . I have to remind the biased Herald that during the last TigerMeet and RedFlag , the Rafale shined in this particular area (data sharing , data fusion and ELINT) and the foreign pilots were surprised because the French Rafale pilots didn 't talk much "live" but were aware of the possible threats earlier than others and shared theirs datas in real time by using the usual means (Link-16 and the own French transmission in between Rafales) .
Dassault called the Rafale "The Survivor" (which is a bit over the top) but everything within the allocated budget has been used to allow the fighter to detect and avoid the threats from good range and share its findings quickly and intelligently .

Cheers .

so you're back, lets pick it up from where we left off with your masturbationary waffle, you said...

""""??? Can 't you see the RAM material around the probe ? It is of a different gray and is at least half a centimeter thick (look at the base) . """

i said....stop it, i'm wetting myself with laughter, you're a fcuken joke, so it isnt a bracket....it's a 1/2 centermeter of ram

Look at all the gaps in the paneling, now look at a photo of an F-35 or F-22. :D

I had assumed that the whoopy cushion snatch strapped to the bonnet was the RAM "blanket" (you know, just like the ones the US used on their Lightning Bugs in the mid 60's used in Vietnam - but at least they were conformal, flush and black....  http://www.strategypage.com/Images/emwink.gif" alt="" />

it's been a while, but some of the frantic attempts to appear knowledgeable have given me some laughs....

- RAM on a refueling probe
- RAM now at the base of the refueling probe (no, its not a bracket - thats part of the deception)
- RAM on the one eyes trouser snake that has to hit the drogue basket
- Flush panelling befitting a Mig 29
- all aspect signature management - but with a wonking great big thermal trap above the stove pipe because its been cooking the sensor and stuffing up the readings - amazing that in all the lectures we get on here about sig management for the Rafale - - that no one actually managed to foresee that the rear EW sensor would get gummed up by the stovepipe - and that the bandaid solution would create a new additional signature feature....
- all aspect signature management, but the great big thermal trap above the stovepipe actually creates another unique and d- - discrete "colour" spot for any imaging seeker...  'twould make an interesting kirlian photograph on a cold day - or anything above 10,000 ft.

they just keep on coming and getting better and better.  it's another Hallmark moment on SP (and they're all "own goals")

Im hoping with all the contrinutions on the refuelling probe that myth will be laid  to rest.  And as they say the first step to recovery is adsmitting there is a problem, hopefully we will have less spurious threads.
Although to truly stop garbage its probably necaserry to drown Slowman in a bucket of his own foaming dribble. -

Rafale photo you are showing are from a test aircraft whom purpose is demonstration so RCS does not matters. And we don't see any coating
Let see some US planes:
Here an operational F18 E

And now an operational Rafale at red flag

Or an operational Rafale F2 in a hangar.
Does it look the same?

Posting pictures taken at a distance isnt going to convince people that the panel fit is much improved, superficially it looks  better but close up that may not be the case. you just cant see the detail.

still has that big sticky out bit though.

there is no RAM on either in the areas that BW has so enthusiastically claimed.  don't defend him or you'll be dragged down into his unfortunate level of comprehension - and in his case they're nonsensical..

leaving aside the issue of the rear heat soaker and its aerodynamic and signature properties - there is no RAM applied to the probe.

1) you can't put it on the guide.  RAM doesn't have those special properties where you can put it on a component that is subjected to continual mount and dismount - esp in real terms "violent" mount and dismount
2) it's a base retaining bracket built onto that inspection plate - not 1cm of special pixie dust - its not a special grey and thus must be RAM
3) any RAM (even if applied to an offset position) would be absolutely wasted because of all the other dissimilar appointments at the c0ckpit vortex point - thats apparent in any shot.  "testbed" or not

my comment about the whoopee cushion was an obvious joke.

BW as usual is digging himself a hole - don't join him.  Need I remind you that I cited a LO radar engineers publication and gave actual citations when I explained how sensitive ill fitting panels were - its been 3 times in 5 years and he finally admitted that he wasn't aware and that he made a mistake.  we've got over that little hurdle but he now comes out with pearlers like this.

he doesn't have a clue - and you're supposed to - so I wouldn't be rushing to his defence too quickly when the fundamentals have not changed and the claims are just as nonsensical.
