Subject: The real Chinese threat to India-Water
Herc the Merc    10/25/2006 9:33:39 AM
It seems the Chinese want to dam and divert the Brahmaputra river--that would be a major problem for India Nepal Bangladesh. This is perhaps a bigger threat than all its missiles. Water can be a WMD.

I hope that it was no coincidence that India recently tested a nuke missile (was it long or medium range?)

But remember, when talking about water, you are literally talking about life.

If China does take a punch at India, India could do more damage by knocking out the dams on the Mekong river.  SE Asia would be appreciative.

Taking a "punch" at india would be totally self-destructive for china. India would make china pay dearly for its actions and the growth its seeing now would slow to a stand still......it would become an international pariah..with friends like iran, pakistan, north korea. No one would be willling to invest in china anymore...

I also believe china knows this......so china actually fighting with india (even a limited border war) seems really far-fetched!!
