The sense of an AFV that fails to armour the crew compartment escapes me. And any vehicle with two or three crew would own it in any mobile battle due to improved situational awareness.

The real reason the driver is exposed is to prevent it from being an invincible uberweapon. When you fight the Flood controlled ones in Halo 2 the crew compartment is sealed. Also the instruction manual says the normal crew is 3, but the Master Chief with his enhancements plus Cortana can run it alone.

i don't know much about the game (although I think my Master Chief action figure is pretty cool!), but the tank looks like a bad bet to me. There are an awful lot of very bad shot-traps in that thing's hull contours, especiaaly under the turret's gun mount.

The gun mount being right at the back is a pretty poor do as well. you've got to expose the whole tank to fire round the corner.

Factor in the four fully-independent track units (they sort of remind me of the old Tucker Sno-Cat arctic vehicle of the 1950s), and you have a vehicle that could be deadlined with one hit that jammed- or just knocked off- one of those four units. There's a reason tanks have fairly well-protected running gear; the designer of this one apparently didn't grasp the concept.
