Subject: Country with best conventional armed forces (army, air force, navy)
dba    11/3/2006 3:46:57 PM
Which country would be ranked #1 in an all-out conventional war involvng all armed forces like WW2? Obviously I would exclude US & Russia in this ranking. And no nukes. And I would say size matters also. So even if UK army was really good its small size would make it inferior to say China. Thanks.

"Some posters talk the big talk without having any facts to back up their delusions of grandeur.  The U.K army is but a mockery of a real land army, really only fit to hold the coat tails of the U.S forces."

To the tosser who wrote the above quote........... in Norway's in the late 80's our small force (1 para) were on exercise against US Navy Seals, they had to be flown out of the area with their collective tails between their legs after we took their weapons when they were in a f***ing TENT staying out of the cold, and you my friend have the cheek to write THAT about our forces. I've always been a great admirer of US forces having trained with them on several occasions, sometimes though their performance was a spectacular f*** up. It occurred to me that allot of the mainstream forces were very young inexperienced guys and most of the UK forces are older, more experienced and have FAR more battle experience.

So come over here and we'll kick your arse all over our small country and send you home with your flag up your arse!!!.

I apologise to the many decent american posters in here whom I've come to respect but this guy is offensive and an arse.

Although I will admit, the delay of the Airbus A-380 hurts my case, but again, the British do not have the ability to build the Airbus A-380,

It's strange you should think that, because the British DID build the Airbus A-380.  It was a co-operation between Britain/Germany/France/Italy/Spain.  The British built the wings and the engine (the two MOST important part of the plane).  It has Rolls-Royce engines.
In fact, the British company Rolls-Royce is the BIGGEST contributor to the A380 project by value.

However China and India are low tech and they need several time more equipement to equal other armies or navy on battlefield. So they would be out quickly.
France, Russia then UK have a more comprehensive set of existing weapon design to mass produce so they would compensate for a part with Japan or Germany industrial might.

If only weapons could win wars, if the fastest bowler got all the wickets, if the best orator won
all the elections, the world would not be so interesting a place.

You seriously think a UK or a France could win wars against China and India? LOL

According to your theory the Europeans have better machines and the
Asians have more people hence the europeans win
but i leave it to you to figure out who's smarter  -  A Man or a Machine

Let me indulge in your fantasy tell me how UK and France propose to storm the shores
of  Mumbai and Beijing and don't forget to mention the expected life expectancy
of the conquering troops :))

oh And dont forget your Laser modded Flying Hover crafts we'll be waitng with our
Wooden Spears

hopefully god willing there will never be another world war, times have changed each armed force is special in its own way, and one question on my behalf, why does everyone seem to think that india is such a potent power in terms of armed forces, i really cant see how they are, against LEDC countries yes, but against a western force the Indian forces would in most cases become target practice, if i am mistaken someone please correct me, but i aa dubious about indias military prowess

first of all i must say an excellent reply to the over arrogant, bias, naive incompetent that put the comment about the British Armed forces, the whole world owes the British armed forces a great debt, we have lost many thousands of our countrymen helping to protect dozens of foreign lands and their people, and it is sheer folly to make disrespectful comments about our proud nations armed forces (if it were not for them half the world would be a burning hell hole by now). As for your well made comments about the British army?s experience, well that is entirely true, they are arguably the best versed and combat experienced army in the entirety of the world, they have built a sound doctrine, and leadership with a wealth of knowledge and experience to draw from. i would also further reinforce your point with some good old fashioned common sense. It is impossible to train a large armed force to a universally high standard no matter what amount of logistics and money you have available, whereas a smaller force can easily be trained to a higher standard, especially when that nation has had allot of experience.
i too have allot of respect for the American armed forces, especially their Marine corps (a fine bunch of soldiers i might add) Us Brits and the Americans have fought through alot of hardship together but sometimes there are a few idiotic posters (of whatever nationality) who are blinded by their own bias patriotic views that talk a load of hot air, who really should shut the hell up.

some mockery the British armed forces have turned out to be, maybe the next time the world has decided to kill itself Britain should just sit back and watch the fireworks and then you can make your disrespectful comments about our armed forces, that?s gratitude for you i suppose
