Subject:
Is two stage military spaceplane feasible?

If SSTO is too hard how about a two stage to orbit spaceplane with the booster below and the orbiter atop it and using horizontal takeoff and landing? Both booster and orbiter would fly back using thermal management system for reentry heat and auxillary turbojets for expanded choice of landing strips. For that matter use turboramjets to Mach 6 and then have rocket motors kick in to Mach 12 followed by orbiter release and rocket propulsion to Mach 25 orbit. What do you guys think?

What about a big UAV mother plane to launch them? A full-on remote control rocket might be a bit heavy to fly back even with retractable wings. Burt Rutan's system seems the way to go.
