Subject: More Tolerance From the Wonderful World of Tolerance
swhitebull    11/22/2003 12:04:25 PM
Apparently, a French publisher who was translating a seminal work of the foibles of Islam, received racist death threats, and therefore pulled the plug on publishing this French translation of Richard Spencer's work: Islam Unveiled.

swhitebull - looks like France has planted the seeds of its own cultural destruction with its huge, unemployed North African immigrant population, many of whom reject French culture, and who live by the law of the street, rather than the laws of France. Wonder what Le Pen would say about all this?

My favorite line: " If you don?t say Islam is a religion of peace, they will kill you" Says all that we need to know.

What in the world does "religion of peace" mean? It certainly doesn't mean "religion of not-war": Mohammad himself was a great warrior.Of course, Christianity is not a "religion of peace" either in that sense:it is apolitical (though political interpretations can be drawn from it)and war is not addressed in the gospels(Christ never told a soldier to give up his job, and once complimented a centurion on the faith arising from his sense of discipline). It presumably encourages peace but that is hardly it's main point. Nor is Judaism a "religion of peace"-it is culture centered and naturally can't be a religion of peace unless it is suicidal. Or is Islam a religion of peace because it says something resembeling "love thy neighbor"? Well almmost everyone says that in some sense. Is Islam Pacifistic? Excuse me while I laugh. Do they mystify peace the way some westerners do: holding what is in fact an interpretation of Just War doctrine, while emotionaly emphasizing their commitment to "peace". We know from present behavior and history that they in fact do not do this. The fact is "religion of peace" is a clumsy example of the craft of diplomacy-the art of meating cordially with people you wouldn't normally trust to take out your garbage. Or it was wishful thinking. But the phrase means nothing.
