There is no better way to start this thread with the speech by late Charlton Heston addressing during NRA Convention.

Fighting the Cultural War in America
by Charlton Heston

A cultural war is raging across our land-storming our values, assaulting our freedoms, killing our self-confidence in who we are and what we believe. (Mr. Heston then asked those present who owned a gun to raise their hand.)

I wonder how many of you own guns but chose not to raise your hand? How many of you considered revealing your conviction about a constitutional right, but then though better of it?

If so, you are a victim of the culture war being waged against traditional American freedom of beliefs and ideas. You have been assaulted and robbed of the courage of your convictions. Your pride in who you are and what you believe in has been ridiculed, ransacked, and plundered! It may be a war without a bullet or bloodshed, but with just as much liberty lost: You and your country are less free!

Because you choose to own guns- affirmed by no less than the Bill of Rights- you embrace a view at odds with the cultural war lords. If that is the outcome of cultural war, and you are the victims, I can only ask the obvious question. What will become of the right itself? Or other rights not deemed acceptable by the thought police? What other truth in your heart will you disavow with your hand?

Rank-and-file Americans wake up every morning, increasingly bewildered and confused at why their views make them lesser citizens. The message gets through; Heaven help the God fearing, law-abiding, Caucasian, middle- class Protestant-or even worse, evangelical Christian, Midwestern or Southern- or even worse, rural, apparently straight-or even worse, admitted heterosexuals, gun-owing-or even worse, NRA-card-carrying, average working stiff-or even worse, male working stiff-because, not only don?t you count, you are a down-right obstacle to social progress. Your voice deserves a lower decibel level, your opinion is less enlightened, your media access is insignificant, and frankly, mister, you need to wake up, wise up, and learn a little something from your new-America and until you do, would you mind shutting up?

That is why you didn?t raise your hand. That?s how cultural war works. That?s what happens when a generation of media, educators, entertainers, and politicians-led by a willing President-decide the America they were born into isn?t good enough anymore. So, they contrive to change it through cultural warfare of class distinction! Ask the Romans if powerful nations have ever fallen as a result of cultural division. There are ruins around the world that were once the smug centers of small-minded, arrogant elitism. It appears that, rather than evaporate in the flash of a split atom, we may succumb to a divided culture!

The Constitution was handed down to guide us by a bunch of wise old dead white guys who invented our country! Now some flinch when I say that. Why! Its true-they were white guys! So were most of the guys that died in Lincoln?s name opposing slavery in the 1860?s. So why should I be ashamed of white guys? Why is ?Hispanic Pride? or ?Black Pride? a good thing, while ?White Pride? conjures shaven heads and white hoods? Why was the Million Man March on Washington celebrated by many as progress, while the Promise Keepers March on Washington was greeted with suspicion and ridicule? I?ll tell you why, Cultural warfare!

You don?t see other Hollywood luminaries speaking out on this do you? Its not because there aren?t any. Its because they can?t afford the heat! They dare not speak for fear of CNN or the IRS or the SAG or NBC! It saps the strength of our country when the personal price is simply too high to stand for what you believe in. Today, speaking with the courage of your convictions can be costly, the price of principal can be so high that legislators won?t lead and citizens can?t follow, and so there is no arm to fight back. That?s cultural warfare!

Mainstream America is counting on you to ?draw your sword? and fight for them. These people have precious little time and resources to battle misguided Cinderella attitudes, the fringe propaganda of the homosexual coalition, the feminists who preach that it is a divine duty for woman to hate men, blacks who raise a militant fist with one hand while they seek preference with the other, New Age apologists for juvenile crime who see roving gangs as a means to only the merchandising violence as a form of entertainment for impressionable minds, and gun bans as a means to only the Lord-knows-what. We ha

The Great 20th Century Art Scam

Full article at Art Renewal Center: http://www.artrenewal.org/arti...

excerpt:
Modern and post-modern art is nihilistic and anti-human. It denigrates humanity along with our hopes, dreams, desires and the real world in which we live. All reference to any of these things is forbidden in the canonistic halls of modernist ideology. We can see that their hallowed halls are a hollow shell, a vacuous vacant vault that locks their devotees away from life and humanity, while stripping mankind of his dignity. It ultimately bores the overwhelming majority of it's would be audience who can find nothing with which to relate.

More on Good Arts, Bad Arts from Art Renewal Center:

quote the author:

I replied as follows:

When have the modernists ever held back from criticizing traditional and academic art? The problem with this attitude, while I also find it very appealing, is that our not talking about the modernists doesn't really mean much.

The fact is that they are being talked about with high praise, in nearly every university art department and art history course in the western world ... parroting the same things that they were taught. They are also being constantly celebrated and exhibited by the biggest and most prestigious museums and getting rave reviews in the newspapers as often as not.

If somebody doesn't explain to everybody why they're not really any good, and why they're not really even artists, and how the whole thing is a hoax, then they will continue their propaganda and continue brainwashing our children and intimidating them into feeling stupid if they don't go along to get along ... and they'll do it unopposed.

If we don't speak up and tell the world that the Emperor's naked, nobody else will. We may not want to talk about them, but we have to if we are going to have any chance of turning things around. We have to provide a theoretical and philosophical context for the feelings of the tens of millions of people out there who are disgusted and feel an aversion for Modernism ... but feel afraid to say so. They need to know that they are not alone and they need to have their feelings validated. And at the same time, we need to provide alternatives ... rich alternatives with great traditional art and with countless images of the greatest paintings in history.

The talentless, skill-lacking and lazy art scammers never stop attacking the hard-working, skilled and talented real artists.

What happens when a braty 3 year old doesn't get their way?  They throw a tantrum.  Nihilistic works of art are the tantrums of sick people who want the world to be different than it is.

The other reason is based on jealousy. Academic school of art is very hard. It takes 6 to 7 years of apprenticeship to complete the training of an artist. You can pretty much say that is the training of Ph.D. in art. Those who attend art schools in universities can never match the level of skill and techniques. Therefore, the only thing they can do is to promogate BS and marginalize academic artists from mainstream.

Sounds just like socialism.

Academic vs modernist are just one aspect of the Culture War. There is more to come when I read something suitable under this topic.

Complaining that modern abstract art makes more money  than modern  traditional art.

Even in markets not "tainted" by govt. money, like for instance art auctions for billionaires, the contemporary "art scammers" outsell the contemprary traditional artists.

Not to mention "the gay coalition" out to get your guns banned. I guess that whould that include these gays:
Source: "http://www.pinkpistols.org/index2.html"
"Thirty-one states allow all qualified citizens to carry concealed weapons. In those states, homosexuals should embark on organized efforts to become comfortable with guns, learn to use them safely and carry them. They should set up Pink Pistols task forces, sponsor shooting courses and help homosexuals get licensed to carry. And they should do it in a way that gets as much publicity as possible. "
If a leftwing nut were posting homophobic crap like this they would be banned pronto.

"The emperor has no clothes."
Anyway, your failure to see that the value of some contemporary arts are highly inflated and the mass majority aren't. The actual mass majority of "contemporary arts" are crap, junk, POS or things of that nature, and do not have a chance to be a museum piece had it not been for government funds. People don't buy those, while those who buy those mostly regard contemporary arts as investment, or display of wealth and purchase pieces made by well-known names. In short, the value of contemporary arts is determined by the fame of the artists, not the work of art, skill or beauty, which they are all in lack of.

Also, the whole homosexual movement is also a fraud created and been part of the Culture War against America. Not long before, homosexual behavior is called sodomy, and were practiced by sailors. Funny how they got of the boat for the hookers and spread STDs around the world.

Actually I should just say the whole sex revolution and Kinsey Report are fraud: http://www.ewtn.com/library/IS...

KINSEY'S FRAUD AND ITS CONSEQUENCES FOR SOCIETY

                          by Raquel M. Chanano

Many people will be surprised to discover that what has served and is
serving as the basis for public school sex education (and is even being
used in many Catholic schools) has its roots in scientific fraud. Most of
this could be credited to one individual: Alfred C. Kinsey, with the help
of his colleagues Wardell B. Pomeroy, Clyde E. Martin, and Paul Gebhard.
Their research and studies have undoubtedly shaped current attitudes and
perceptions concerning human sexuality. These perceptions have ultimately
worked themselves into the current sex education programs.

the top selling contemporary visual artist is Robert Kinkaid. I think he's over-marketed, but it's not modernist, abstract, surrealist, etc.

He's not recognized as such by the cultural cognoscenti, but they carefully select only those who fit their own predjudices, and then annoint them as leaders, paragons, etc.

the same thing happens in literature. The leading sales category is almost always Christian; not just by wide margins, but often by orders of magnitude. The cultural mavens at the New York Times carefully segregate these sales figures into separate ghettos so they can praise "best selling" authors whose views are not so offensive to them.

the fact of the matter is that the cultural life of America is vibrantly alive. It's just not the one our cultural elites choose to celebrate.

And you have this kind of quislings in the litigation industry:

Galligan said he and his staff have tried to open accounts in Hasan's name at half a dozen banks but were turned down at each one. He was especially angry that Fort Hood National Bank also refused, he said.

"In its unique position as the one major bank on post, with access to all of the soldiers, they turned us down too," Galligan said.

Charlton Heston has such a deep beautiful voice and warm eyes, at least had back in his best actor days, that it is hard to imagine him that scared and locked-up as he appears to be based on that speech.

Conservative value cluster has to use the words and logic of this Century and stop concentrating on preserving simple ideals from one's childhood. Childhood was merry because we were kids with no responsibilities, it wasn't merry because the world was any better back then. Gays might've been neatly in the closet not offending the confusion-sensitive, but then again Barry from next door could beat up his wife every day and get away with it. The culture war as demonstrated here is a lost cause as long as it merely objects. To seize initiative all value clusters (their supporters that is) must have a proactive agenda instead of just reactively bashing what ever the opposing party does.

With all the scientifical understanding and progress, the wonderful possibilities open to mankind, some concentrate on homosexuals, guns and lost white pride. Things that have gone are never coming back in their intended form. Instead of fighting windmills, the conservative value cluster could have a progressive agenda to support. It is however hard to bend progression out of something that is currently fixed on glorifying the simplicity of childhood.

Liberal value cluster is not perfect either, far from it, and definetly offers revolting exaggerations like the harrassment of the blondi Christian woman at the state university as discussed in the other thread. Both value clusters are needed to balance out extremes of both ends, just as rifling is needed in the barrell to make the bullet fly straight. What I'm saying is that more often than not the modern conservative can offer no progressive alternative, just yesterday's ideals xeroxed to this day.
