Subject: 2010 political agenda: gun owner registration and legalization of illegals

www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/attorney-general-holder-reveals-aggressive-gun-control-in-response-to-ft-hood-terror-attack-70535237.html

[quote]
After explaining and defending his decision to give enemy combatants constitutional protections and the right to public trial in civilian courts, Attorney General Holder revealed his support for a national gun owner registration scheme and authorizing the government to ban firearm possession for any person by merely adding that person's name to the terror watch list.

Drawing reasonable conclusions from what Holder publicly said, we now know:

* Holder wants a national, permanent gun registration system administered by law enforcement. A registration of honest citizens that have cleared the federal background check for gun purchases with those records permanently retained by and shared among law enforcement.
* Holder wants new federal authority to prohibit any person on the federal watch list (reported to be 400,000 names) from buying guns and supports confiscating guns from those on the list who possess them.

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, the White House point person on immigration, said Friday that Congress must provide temporary worker programs and a path to citizenship for 12 million undocumented workers when it takes up reform legislation next year.

Holder's a bigger idiot than I took him for if he honestly thinks gun registration will fly anywhere but in his head.  Max Baucus from my home state may like the idea of Obamacare, but he is no way, no how going to support gun registration.  Not if he wants to keep his job and his teeth.

Still, I hope Holder goes for it, and I hope many, many Democrats support it.  At the rate they're going, the Democrat Party is going to take a greater shellacking than they did in 1994.

Amnesty sadly has a much better chance--it damn near passed when Republicans were running the show.

Wow, looks like it's time to go pick up a couple more, and a crate or two of ammo to go with them.  Good thing the "Nation's Gun Show" is this weekend at the Dulles Expo Center.  Be there or be serf-ed.

The Democratic imperative is to get the "Illegals" citizenized as soon as possible to bolster its voter base as it becomes clearer the party's agenda is disaffecting the independents.

I favor granting citizenship to those illegals who are already here with a couple of caveats:
1 - You have to be working and not on welfare
2 - no criminal record
3 - Able body young men will be drafted into the Border patrol and are tasked with securing the border...they have a 4 year probationary period and if any illegal gets thru their section of the fence on their watch they and their families are deported

As far as national registry of guns...it's already there through the background check. What the liberals don't understand is that there is no way of confiscating guns...Will any Police Officer go to a law abiding citizens house to confiscate their guns?...most cops believe in private gun ownership and most will refuse to enforce the law.

Holder is an idiot

I would bet on a Reagan style amnesty program for illegals who can prove long time residency, employment, payment of taxes, property ownership or at least stable residency.

Especially because this a census year, after the census and amnesty, our population will probably be ~ 320 million.

Immigration reform:

[quote]
Among proponents, there is a consensus that a proposal must move by April or early May to have a realistic chance of passing this year. If that deadline slips, Congress' focus is likely to shift to the November elections, making it impossible to take up major legislation.

"There's no question that this is a heavy lift and the window is narrowing," said Janet Murguia, president and chief executive of the National Council of La Raza, a Latino advocacy privilege group.

Expect huge battles in Congress in the next few months. They know that they're gonna lose in November, but the time might be just enough for them to shove it through American citizens' collective thing.

And people still laugh at us Taiwans who run Kung Fu parliament?

And what are we going to do about it if they don't?...prove it.

This is betting against us in the hopes of 20 million new votes.
I hope union workers know that 20 million fresh faces willing to pay dues and work for a little less will get them kicked to the curb so fast that their thick heads will spin.

I think conservative and right-wing voters should kick themselves and get real.  The single fastest growing demographic group is the Hispanics.  It does not really matter which sort of immigration policy gets the most lip service:  They will still be the fastest growing segment of our population.  Not to mention that the US has benefited quite a bit from having the illegals in the labor market for quite some time.  Sure ... just go out and arrest them and see our economy hollowed out!  I think this immigration game is just another cheapshot politics:  Just rattle the saber against 'hordes of illegal immigrants' whenever there is an election going on.  No such harebrained ideas have ever been endorsed by the great majority of businesses to this day ... a sobering thought.

(Pssst!  The US could have avoided a significant chunk of this immigration issue a long time ago:  No Mexican-American War and no annexation of the Southwest.  Seriously, the US stole this huge chunk of real estate from Mexico back then and some Americans to this day thinks this land has belonged to the US for thousands of years.  )

Yeah, after all, we all know the southwest has really belonged to Mexico for thousands of years, and the Mexicans never stole it from anybody.

I could care less about that silly excuse.  Just because the Southwest belonged to a breakaway former colonial (in other words, not the original title holder), it does not change the fact that the US mugged her then stole half of her real estate.

I know!  Ain't Manifest Destiny grand?  Go west, young man!  Thank God the place was practically deserted and ripe for the picking!  Too bad we ran out of land to grab.  Well, we might still convince Canada--or parts thereof--to come over some day.

Whenever you're finished foaming on about race, it's about illegal immigrants.

More than the $15Billion dollar JOBS bill (enough to prop the largest economy on earth) goes poof across the border every year.
I work in these same shadows. It's the scam of thge century, a very profitable scam with net negative effect on our economy. You can live and work in America AND pay for your parent's mortgage in Mexico...AND their electricity, telephones, internet, auto insurance, etc.

It IS a business. and the 30% of your income is their cheap labor.

All businesses regularly make a decision to reduce, even eliminate, profit in the name of survival...much more than they do to break laws to maximize profit. - Oh, yes they do. I go bankrupt and get laid off many times every year, and nothing can stop me from doing it year after year...not even the prospect of more money (even a gold watch)
You want your business to reduce profits in the name of the survival of a competing business, and you think that the competing business breaking laws to maximize profits is and has been good business....and if it isn't good business, then Photon can check your skin, hair and eyes and cross reference that to your physical address, then decide where in history you actually* belong...and how you deserve to be treated, regardless of what the law states.

Yeah ... oh darn!  Blame the Pacific Ocean for imposing such an abrupt barrier!  Although, I doubt anyone in the States will go Super-Dutch by engaging in a massive land reclamation project that dwarfs the Dutch.

How about we lower our standard of living until there is a significant gap between the US and Canada?  Thereafter, some of us are legals and the rest are illegals in Canada.  There are far many more Americans alive and kicking, compared to the number of Canadians.  We then start stirring up troubles and demand 'independence'.  Finally the Canadians have had enough and grant us 'independence'.  Finally, we vote to join the Union.  (This sort of gameplay should not be unfamiliar to Americans:  More or less the same thing has happened to Texas before becoming part of the US.  Before joining the Union, Texas was at one time 'Republic of Texas' ... whoaaaaa!)

Relax guy, you need a vacation....It's the entitlements. Solve the entitlement problem and then illegal immigration AND the deficits fix themselves.
