Now here is something you don't hear everyday.
Syed Soharwardy and 3 other Calgary Imams issued a Fatawa against Taliban actions in Pakistan. The Canwest News Service on May 17th stated that Soharwardy, founder of the Islamic Supreme Council of Canda, commented that "Their idealogy ... is not Islam, it is against Islam and the beliefs of Muslims...It is an idealogy of hate."
The Imams also called for Muslims to support the refugess from the SWAT and neighbouring regions of Pakistan that have been driven out by Taliban excesses and fighting between the Taliban and Pakistani army units. The Imams indicated they were totally against what they called the "un-Islamic and inhumane" nature of the Taliban idealogy.
