Subject: Why cant the British illustrous and ARk royal be refurbished?

If seems like the 2 large carries still arnt enouhg for the royal navy.

Why not just buy the 2 carriers, but refurbish the ark royal and illustrous? that way they could always have atleast 1 carrier at sea.

Why not just buy the 2 carriers, but refurbish the ark royal and illustrous? that way they could always have atleast 1 carrier at sea.

Money - money - money... The Royal Navy is already scraping around for what little funds it can get its hands on, refurbishing a couple of old carriers would only add to that burden.

Also consider that they'd need to be crewed in that..

And finally, these 2 new carriers almost didn't happen (this is just speculation on my part) but I'd imagine that if it appeared the old ships could be refurbished easily and kept in service for a decade or so more at pretty low cost, the tight fisted politicians may have questioned the need for new carriers even more... again, just speculation.
