zach    1/15/2008 1:25:07 PM
I have a question, from a topic that I read on strategy page, it was called Ma Duce replacement stumbles. It said that the XM312 with its low rate of fire did not impress the troops, so what of the future of this weapon? Can someone please help me with this? Here is the link that I got it from link

For know I'm going to assume that the military will keep the M2 and MK-19 and not use the XM312/307. In my opinion thats a good thing, because the M2 has a very good rate of fire and its accurate, durable and low recoil, the same goes for the MK-19. The XM307 does not have the power of the 40mm ether only 25mm air burst, not the powerful 40mm that the MK-19 has.

I dunno... the ROK Army adopted the M-307/12.  I think those will be future weapons for a future war to go with the M-29 OICW.  Weapons always get tested in actual conflict before they're adopted.  Take the TOW missile for example...  It saw its first action in Vietnam, and changed the battlefield in 1973 during the Yom Kippor War.  I expect something similar with the M-307/12... not exact.

The XM307/312 would be a good weapon for arming robots.  The lower rate of fire will stretch their ammo (they cannot change boxes), they do not flinch, and could use the accuracy.

Another good use would be in an armored CROWS mount for defending fortifications in Afghanistan where it is unlikely to encounter anything other than infantry and 'technicals'.
