I couldn't believe this when I read this. Why in the hell is the German press so hell bent on talking trash of their country's military? This attack on Germany's finest soldiers is not the first, and will probably not be the last. I don't want to look down my noses at the Germans, but I cannot believe that Germany's military recieves this kind of bad press. They definately don't deserve it.

They are also accusing the krauts for trading beer for US intel. Seems like a fair trade to me, though I personally feel us yanks would get the better end of the deal...

there were some pictures of german soldiers screwing around in some pretty tacky ways came out a while back.  seems really like something that should have gotten squished by the platoon sgt.

I see nothing wrong with the article at all. If these allegations are true, then it is a major issue. Most of these guys are 28-35 years old (according the article), they are deployed in a foreign country with the main purpose being to engage and kill the enemy, they are a Tier 1 force, and they are gonna constantly have parties involving alcohol like teenagers? I see no problem with them trading beer for intel, that very smart...evidently they didn't have many resources. However, for a tier 1 unit to be that irresponsible while deployed is ridiculous What if they were drunk and had just recieved info that Bin Laden was in Kandahar, and a Tier 1 force was needed immediately to respond. Or what if they had alcohol in their system when they were kicking down a door. Since alcohol inhibits your decision making ability, they could all have been at risk of death, or even worse, they could have killed an innocent civilian. If CAG or DEVGRU did this, there would be hell to pay and we all know it. .The press would jump all over it (not that they have any clue who CAG or DEVGRU is).

Good point GOP. However, I don't know wether or not you are aware of German press, and especially Der Spiegel. I am sure that if you read a few articles of Der Spiegel you would assert as I have that they are more than exagerrating their story. Many units that worked with them didn't seem to have a problem with them, including the US Navy SEALS.

Even from thsi report, they were allowed a maximum of 2 cans of beer a day. So even if it was true, it's not exactly like they were binge drinking and having midnight Roman orgies.

I do.  Der Speigel has as much accuracy and truth in reporting as the Daily Mirror or Pravda.  I've known people who've worked with KSK on exchange and they're highly regarded.
